I Will Be Goal Oriented

“Those who fail to plan, plan to fail.”

People without goals are like people with absolutely no direction in life. They only live for today, and they never give a second thought about tomorrow. Like a sailboat they go wherever the wind takes them, even into the middle of a storm.

But goals are like the rudders of our boats. They help steer us in the right direction. Goals help us to stay focused! I won’t cover what are the best ways to set your goals but I will just list some guidelines on how to set your goals wisely.

When you set your goals, make sure you are working towards something you really, really want rather than something that sounds good or sounds noble. There is a temptation for us to let others know our lofty goals, like saving the world, in order to make us look better in the eyes of others.

In reality, we work better when we are able to quietly keep our eyes on the targets of our own heart’s desires.

Make sure you set a specific goal and not an ambiguous goal (like planning to lose some weight in the future). Once you have given yourself a specific instruction, your subconscious mind will work towards that goal much easier and remember to put a COMPLETION DATE on each of your goals.

Also while it is very important to be sure you are setting realistic and reachable goals for yourself, remember to set your goals a bit higher than you think you can achieve as well. If you set a goal that is too easy to reach there is no challenge.

At the same time setting a goal that is too high will break you and discourage you. Remember that we are just like our muscles. If you don’t work out enough your muscles won’t grow. If you work out too much you just might injure yourself.

Lesson: The difference between a goal and a dream is the written word and TAKING ACTION.
